Privacy Over Public Drama
Chahal revealed that the decision to keep their separation private was mutual. Despite ongoing tensions, the couple chose not to make their differences public until they had reached a final conclusion.
"It was going on for a long while. We decided we do not want to show the people... Until we reached a point of end, we were not going to say anything. We were like a normal couple on social media," Chahal stated.
Addressing Allegations of Cheating
One of the most distressing aspects of the separation for Chahal was the barrage of accusations he faced online. Responding directly to those who labeled him a 'cheater,' Chahal was firm in his denial and shared how the false allegations hurt his sense of self.
"I have never cheated. You will not get a more loyal person than me... I have two sisters, I know how to respect girls," he asserted.
He also criticized the culture of drawing baseless conclusions based on online appearances and expressed his frustration at being targeted for the sake of engagement and views.
Mental Health and Personal Crisis
In a deeply personal revelation, Chahal discussed the severe emotional and psychological impact the situation had on him. He admitted to battling intense mental health struggles, including experiencing suicidal thoughts.
"I was tired of my life. Every day I could not go through the same things—same anxiety, crying for hours, and sleeping only 2–3 hours... 40–45 days, this time it went on."
Recognizing the severity of his condition, Chahal took a deliberate break from cricket, prioritizing his mental well-being and ensuring his performance—or lack thereof—would not impact the team.
"I took a break from cricket because I did not want the team to suffer because of me."
